Marcel Desailly has shared that Liverpool defender, Virgil van Dijk, told him that he has been practising to be able to play on both feet in training.
The France legend shared that he spoke with the ice-cool Liverpool player during their League Cup final win over Chelsea and he was asking him ‘which foot do you prefer’ to play with.
Van Dijk is regarded as the best defender in world football, with the 30-year-old having absolutely everything in his game.
From Kylian Mbappe to Harry Kane, the one-time Champions League winner has dealt with every type of player that is put in front of him.
During his peak years, ex-Chelsea man Desailly, was regarded as one of the best of his times, hence why he has a World Cup winners medal, as he shared his thoughts on Van Dijk on beIN SPORTS.
“I was with him at the final of the League Cup,” said Desailly. “I was asking him ‘which foot do you prefer (to play with)’.
“He said that he has two feet. He has been training with it. Different era. Modern football. The defenders are talented also with the ball and their ability to play with both feet.”

Liverpool are searching for multiple trophies this season and someone like Van Dijk is going to be utterly, utterly crucial to that possibly happening.
It needs to be remembered that the ball-playing centre-back returned at the start of the campaign from a long-term injury.
Whilst everyone talks about his qualities, it still would have been difficult for him to come back from that knock and find the rhythm to his game.
But, all of that is coming together at the right time, which is good news for those in Liverpool colours, as two of the biggest weeks of their season await them.
