Leeds United midfielder Oriol Rey is being lined up for a return to Spain.

Spanish outlet Deportes CMM report Rey is wanted by Segunda Liga side UB Conquense

The report claims an agreement has been struck although does not specify whether it would be a loan deal or permanent move.

Rey signed for Leeds one year ago from Barcelona’s academy.

Billed as a centre-back, he starred for Leeds under-23 side in a midfield role and played a key role in their turnaround last season.

He had seemed like an ideal fit for new manager Marcelo Bielsa but he did not take his chance in pre-season, struggling in a friendly with Oxford.

Even so, Rey has remained on the fringes of the first team, and was called up onto the bench this week having travelled to Swansea City, as a replacement for Jamie Shackleton who was elevated as a starter after Liam Cooper’s injury.

A permanent departure could be premature, so Leeds fans will be hoping if an exit is agreed for the 20-year-old, it is a loan deal.
