Joe Royle has spoken about Tom Davies’ current situation at Everton in an interview with Obstructed View.
The former Toffees manager has claimed that the young midfielder has to kickstart his career now after a recent lull.
The 22-year-old has seen his development stall in recent times after an influx of midfield signings at Goodison Park saw him slip down the pecking order.
He has made just three Premier League appearances this season, starting just once, but Royle believes he has the talent to get back on track.
“Tom Davies; he has to jump-start his career now, because Tom is a great kid, he is a lovely boy, believe me. He came on to the scene with such an explosion against Manchester City.
“I was there that day and I was so pleased with him, and he has to find that spark again and jump-start his career.
“And if I see him I’ll tell him that because I think the world of the kid, I really do. That talent is still there, it’s not gone.”

Davies’ career at Everton certainly hasn’t followed the trajectory he had hoped, but there is still time to put that right.
He’s only 22, but with the likes of Allan and Abdoulaye Doucoure arriving this summer, he may find minutes hard to come by.
It will be even tougher for Carlo Ancelotti to justify picking him after the start the Merseyside outfit have made.
Everton sit fourth in the table after seven games, and the Blues’ new midfield signings have been key contributors to that good start.
Royle is right that Davies needs to jump-start his career, but he may find it difficult to force Ancelotti’s hand at Goodison Park.
