Robert Snodgrass knows West Ham face a huge test when they come up against his former club Leeds United tomorrow night, telling the Hammers website Marcelo Bielsa’s side have “taken the Premier League by storm”.
A battle between two of the division’s surprise packages will carry extra significance for the veteran Scotsman.
Snodgrass spent his formative years at Elland Road and even captained the club before leaving for Norwich City in 2012.
Now 33, the Glasgow-born midfielder is thrilled to see Leeds reclaim their place among the English football elite under the enigmatic Bielsa.
Having said that, Snodgrass will be putting his allegiance to one side as West Ham look to seal an impressive win in West Yorkshire, knowing three points would lift them above Southampton and up to fifth in the table.
“It will be a great game for the neutral because you’ve got two sides who believe – two sides with confidence,” the Scotland international explains.
“Leeds have come up and taken the Premier League by storm. They’ve played against some of the best teams in the league, creating chances all over the place and having no fear.

“Friday will be a tough, tough game, something the lads haven’t experienced where they go man for man and try to get all over the place.
“(Leeds) obviously mean a lot to me. They gave me a chance when I was a teenager, 19, and I left there as captain. The club’s got a place in my heart definitely but, come Friday, I want the West Ham lads to get the three points and go further up that table.”
It remains to be seen whether Snodgrass will feature against the club where he made his name, having played just one minute of Premier League football so far this season under David Moyes.
