Nuno’s Tottenham Hotspur and Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are reportedly very determined to sign Takehiro Tomiyasu.

What’s the story?

Both Arsenal and Tottenham are keen on Bologna central defender Tomiyasu and are very keen on securing his services in the summer transfer window.

Corriere di Bologna have reported that Tottenham have had a second bid for the Japan international turned down.

But, Spurs are now planing a third offer for the 22-year-old.

Bologna want €25 million (£21.38m), at least a fixed transfer fee of €20 million (£17.10m).

Tottenham have made a second offer of €19 million (£16.25m) plus bonuses.

Spurs are optimistic about signing Tomiyasu because the club’s sporting director Fabio Paratici has an agreement with the defender over his wages and length of contract.

However, Arsenal are not giving up.

Il Resto del Carlino have reported Arsenal are ‘upping the ante’, and so are their bitter North London rivals Tottenham.

Advantage Tottenham Hotspur?

Arsenal may be keen on Tomiyasu, who can also play as a right-back, but it seems that Tottenham are ahead in the race.

After all, Spurs have made two offers and have an agreement with the defender.

Unless Arsenal decide to cough up what Bologna want, the Gunners will miss out on the Japanese youngster to Tottenham.
