Speaking on the Footballer’s Football Podcast, Callum Wilson has joked that West Ham should sign Ivan Toney to replace Michail Antonio.

Antonio and Wilson were interviewing a Brentford fan for their podcast, and inevitably, the topic of Toney’s future came up in the conversation.

Wilson made the case for Toney staying at the Bees, while Antonio said he should move to a bigger club.

After Antonio’s comments, Wilson stated that West Ham may want to have a look at the 26-year-old due to his co-host’s poor run of form in front of goal in the Premier League as of late.

What’s been said?

Wilson reacted to Antonio’s comments about Toney.

“He’s trying to market him (Toney) you know. I’m trying to keep him for you. Maybe they should take him at West Ham and take Michail’s spot because he can’t score anyway,” Wilson said.

Not the worst idea

Wilson may have only been joking about Toney going to West Ham, but he could be onto something there.

The Hammers certainly need a new striker, and after a brilliant first season in the Premier League with Brentford, Toney could fill that gap brilliantly.

Of course, prying the star striker away from the Bees is easier said than done, but we can’t help but feel that his finishing ability and link-up play would suit the Hammers to a tee.

West Ham will surely be in the market for a new striker this summer, and they could do a lot worse than signing Toney from their London rivals.
