Darren Bent has told talkSPORT that he would talk Lucas Torreira back at Arsenal following his lack of game time at Atletico Madrid.
There are suggestions that the combative midfielder could return to Arsenal from his season-long loan spell and Bent thinks the £26 million signing [BBC Sport] is ‘better than’ Mohamed Elneny.
Journalist Duncan Castles told the Transfer Window Podcast that Torreira could have his temporary stay at the current La Liga leaders ‘terminated’, but it’s not guaranteed that he would return to the Arsenal set-up.
Former Premier League striker, Bent, who is a boyhood Arsenal fan shared why he would welcome the 2018 signing back to the club.
“I probably would [take him back] because it’s more strength in depth,” said Bent. “For me, I thought he was better than Elneny. But, to be fair, Elneny has come back and he’s neat and tidy on the ball and he’s fitting into what Arteta wants to do and he is playing well.
“But I would take him back because of what it’s like at Arsenal. Things can change very, very quickly. Also with Partey and his injuries, at the minute.
“When he first came, he showed everyone what a good player he was.”

Whilst Arsenal fans would like to see Thomas Partey be their main guy in the middle, he hasn’t been able to stay out of the treatment room in order for that to happen.
Instead, the likes of Granit Xhaka and Elneny have been regulars in the middle of the park for Mikel Arteta, with the more attack-minded and creative Emile Smith Rowe now trying to get his feet warm under the table.
Given that Arteta hardly used Torreira when he was in North London, and considering he hasn’t made an impact in his loan spell, it would be a surprise if he is used by the Arsenal boss if he returns because the best outcome would be to send him to a club that will give him the minutes.
