Rival fans have mocked Arsenal after suggestions in the Daily Mail of their interest in Antoine Griezmann.
The Mail claimed that Arsenal are now on ‘red alert’, as Griezmann could leave Barca.
However, the Gunners have immediately been ruled out of the race to sign the French forward by fans of rival clubs.
Arsenal’s chances of signing Griezmann do appear to be limited, unless he was to take a major pay cut.
The Gunners also need to raise funds by selling players, before they could even contemplate moving for a player of Griezmann’s value.
The forward moved to Barca for £107 million just last year (BBC Sport), and although his asking price may have fallen, he would still be an extremely expensive purchase for any side.
It is, therefore, surprising to see Arsenal linked with him and it would be a major shock if Arteta’s side were able to do a deal, even though the 29-year-old would make an extremely appealing addition to their squad.
