Some Real Madrid fans are in stitches after seeing how Zinedine Zidane reacted to Liverpool’s Andy Robertson squaring up to Casemiro during a Champions League game at Anfield last night.
Liverpool were knocked out of the competition at the semi-final stage by Zidane’s side on Merseyside following a 0-0 draw, eight days after Real won 3-1 in Madrid.
On 25 minutes, Casemiro went through James Milner for a shortcut on the touchline in a tackle that saw Jurgen Klopp and much of the Reds’ dugout – including Diogo Jota – react angrily.
Nobody was more enraged than left-back Robertson, who was booked for a brief tangle with the big Brazilian midfielder.
One photographer caught the moment the Liverpool defender confronted Casemiro – and the Real Madrid boss could be seen grinning ear to ear in the background.
Here’s how some fans of the Spanish giants reacted to the incident on Twitter:
For Liverpool, being knocked out has ended their last chance of silverware this season.
Klopp’s side are sixth in the Premier League, despite being reigning champions, and they have a fight on their hands to even qualify for the Champions League next term.
