Tony Cascarino has written in The Times that Aston Villa should give Steven Gerrard time, just like Arsenal did with Mikel Arteta.
The former Villa player has said that the Villans should take a leaf out of Arsenal’s book and keep faith in Gerrard.
The Liverpool legend has come under pressure at Villa due to poor results and performances.
There is speculation that the Villans could sack Gerrard and bring in former Tottenham Hotspur and Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino as his replacement.
Villa are 16th in the Premier League table at the moment with nine points from 10 matches, just a point above the relegation zone.

Aston Villa told to follow Arsenal’s lead regarding Steven Gerrard
Cascarino wrote: “Aston Villa should take a leaf out of Arsenal’s book and stand by their manager.
“There was no evidence against Chelsea that Steven Gerrard has lost the dressing room and Villa were unfortunate to be on the wrong end of Kepa Arrizabalaga’s excellent display in goal. With fewer individual errors, they could have got a point or three.
“Gerrard has been unfortunate with injuries this campaign, losing Boubacar Kamara and Diego Carlos, while he was without Leon Bailey for much of last season. Arsenal have come good under Mikel Arteta, and I believe Gerrard can improve Villa if given the time.”
What should Villa do?
In our view, Aston Villa should keep faith in Steven Gerrard and give him more time.
The former England international midfielder was appointed in his role at Villa only in November 2021.
It has not even been a year yet.
Yes, the Villans are not doing well, but it is still only mid-October.
Now, of course, Gerrard needs to get things back on track, but we think that the Villa bosses should persevere with him until at least the start of the 2022 World Cup finals in Qatar.
