Rangers are desperately in the need of an attacking midfielder.

Rangers are desperately in need of adding a number 10 to their squad in the January transfer window after the loss of loanee Ovie Ejaria, and Adel Taarabt could be the perfect addition.
Portuguese outlet Record claim 29-year-old Taarabt, renowned for his natural and raw skill but also his lack of temperament, is wanting a return to the English Championship. He is currently on the books at Benfica but is struggling for game time.
Indeed, the Morocco international went on loan to Serie A side Genoa last season where he impressed on occasion, scoring two goals and creating two more. This season, he has failed to even make the bench for Benfica.
Ejaria returned to Liverpool after cancelling his loan with the Gers. It has been described as footballing reasons for his decision to return to Anfield, though he had come in for some criticism of late from the Ibrox crowd.
It has left a hole in Steven Gerrard’s side, with the Gers boasting plenty of central midfielders but none that are equipped to connect the midfield and attack – other than Scott Arfield.
The Canada captain has been in excellent form for the Light Blues, but he needs help with the pressure firmly planted on him to provide the attacking connection from midfield. Taarabt would be the perfect addition.

His natural skill and long-range shooting ability would not only give Rangers another crucial dimension, but also bring the best out of the likes of Ryan Kent, Alfredo Morelos and Daniel Candeias.
Rangers are expected to be busy in the summer window, and a number 10 is likely to be on the top of Gerrard’s shortlist after missing out on Everton’s Kieran Dowell – who joined Sheffield United. Taarabt should be considered.
