Santi Cazorla is the second Arsenal player this season to suggest Wojciech Szczesny could be replaced.

Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla has become the latest current star to suggest that Arsene Wenger should target a new goalkeeper this summer.

His choice? Real Madrid shot stopper Iker Casillas.

“I’ve told Iker I would like him to join Arsenal. But so far he has just been curious about my experience in England,” the midfielder told Sport360.

It’s the second time this season Wojciech Szczesny has been forced to accept comments from one of his teammates suggesting a new goalkeeper could be signed in one of the transfer windows.

Olivier Giroud was the first offender when he revealed that he’d had conversations with Tottenham number one Hugo Lloris about the possibility of swapping the white side of North London for the red.

“Have I asked him (Lloris) to join Arsenal? Yes, I have with Lolo (Laurent Koscielny). He would have liked to, he would quite like to. You will have to ask him the question,” said Giroud.

So what exactly has the Pole done to deserve the chat about being replaced? In short, nothing.

He’s been one of the best performing goalkeepers in key areas throughout the season and has rightly earned the number one spot under Arsene Wenger as the Gunners stare at the possibility of a first trophy since 2005.

Arsenal are a big football club and a large brand so the best players are always going to be linked with moves to the club.

In each case with Casillas and Lloris it’s understandable why they would want to move to Arsenal with the Spaniard’s place threatened at Real Madrid by Diego Lopez while the Frenchman looks set to miss out on Champions League football all over again at White Hart Lane.

However, hopefully Szczesny’s teammates can think twice before making comments which undermine his position in the future. Fortunately he’s strong enough not to have risen to the bait, taking his mistakes this season on the chin and working to become a better ‘keeper because of them.
