Arsenal’s Poland international Wojciech Szczesny, on loan at Roma, has laid out the welcome mat to his fellow goalkeeper Joe Hart on Instagram, with the Manchester City man agreeing his own year with Serie A outfit Torino.

Both players have found themselves out of favour at their parent clubs, leading them to look for football elsewhere, and Szczesny will be joined by his fellow Premier League stopper in Italy for the current season.

Underlining his commitment to the Goalkeeper’s Union, the 26-year-old wished Hart well alongside a picture of the two after a previous match, with a little friendly rivalry laid out too.

Good luck at Torino lad. Looking forward to playing against you again! @joehartofficial #hart #szczesny

Italy is of course a country famous for it’s goalkeepers, with the likes of Dino Zoff and current national team captain Gianluigi Buffon two of the greatest in that position in the history of the game.

Hart is the latest big name goalkeeper set to feature in Serie A, after it was made clear that he was not in new City boss Pep Guardiola’s plans. The 29-year-old will be looking to put a difficult summer with England behind him and concentrate in developing in a new division and culture.

It is something that has worked for Szczesny, who finds himself behind Petr Cech and David Ospina at the Emirates but still highly thought of as a young goalkeeper by Arsene Wenger. The Pole made 42 appearances on loan in Rome last year, helping the Giallorossi to third spot in the league and Champions League football.

Hart, set to become the first English goalkeeper to play in Serie A since the division began, will be hoping to contribute to similar success in Turin, and has previously starred in a loan spell with Birmingham City earlier in his career.
