The League One side enjoy a positive relationship with Bhoys boss Brendan Rodgers.
Swindon boss Williams (L)
Swindon Town boss Luke Williams has welcomed reports of a possible link-up with Scottish champions Celtic, the Swindon Advertiser reports, citing BBC Wiltshire.
The League One side currently employ Anton Rodgers, son of Bhoys boss Brendan – whose recent appointment has prompted talk of an unofficial agreement, akin to the one Swindon previously had in place with Liverpool, being reached.
Reds youngsters Brad Smith, Lawrence Vigouroux, Kevin Stewart and Jordan Williams all spent time in Wiltshire during Rodgers’ three years at Anfield.
Liverpool’s Stewart is a former County Ground loanee
And Williams is hopeful of rekindling the club’s links with the 43-year-old, now he has moved to Parkhead
“I don’t see why not,” Williams told BBC Wiltshire, as quoted by the Swindon Advertiser, when asked if a new relationship could be formed.
“Brendan has been at the County Ground plenty of times and obviously Anton is here so he knows a lot about the football club.
“I think that he would probably feel confident sending players to Swindon, probably more confident to send a player to us than any other League One club just because of that contact.
“That is what life is about. It is about having a contact and trusting that person because you know more about them.”
Rodgers Snr was confirmed at Parkhead earlier this month
Rodgers, who has inherited a squad swelling with names from Ronny Deila, also stands benefit from such an arrangement.
Under current Football League rules, teams are allowed to borrow a maximum of four players from any one club throughout the same campaign.
Of course, the relationship could work both ways, leaving the Bhoys in a favourable position to cherry pick the Robins’ top talents.
The Rodgers cross paths while at Oldham and Liverpool respectively
