Leeds have been linked with signing Wolves’ Danny Batth, but its not a swap he would take lightly.

Over the past week Leeds United have been linked with a move for Wolves centre-back Danny Batth.

The Sunday Mirror (print edition, page 61, July 9, 2017), reported that Batth is one of two players Leeds are keen on along with Matt Doherty, with the claims also run in the Daily Express.

Batth fits the calibre of experienced Championship centre-back Leeds need, but quitting Wolves would be a huge deal for him.

The 26-year-old has been at Wolves since he was 10, and signed a new contract at Molineux just last September.

Speaking at the time after extending his deal until 2020, Batth was quoted by the Express & Star discussing his passion for the club.

He said: “It is hard to sum up my feelings about Wolves.

“It is in my blood, it is my daily routine, it is everything that I know.

“Wolves is special to me and something I take very seriously.

He added: “I also hope during my continued association with the club that we will obviously progress and we will reach the Premier League.”

Unless Batth is specifically told by new boss Nuno Santo that he is not wanted, it will be tough for him to suddenly walk out on them, especially for a side in a similar position who are trying to break into the promotion battle next season.

It would also be a gamble from the new Wolves boss to discard a home grown player so easily, and while Batth is not perfect, his commitment and passion can’t be bought by any super-agent.
