Some Tottenham Hotspur fans on Twitter are calling on the club to re-sign a teenager who has already left North London at one point.

Crystal Palace and Leicester City are heavily linked with a move for PSV winger Noni Madueke.

And if he does return to England, his homeland, it’ll be for a £20 million fee, according to The Sun.

The 19-year-old came through the ranks at Tottenham but quit to join the Eredivisie giants back in 2018 in what looks like being a masterstroke on his part.

Here’s what some Spurs fans are saying on Twitter:

Needed

It just so happens that the Lilywhites do indeed need wide players to be signed this summer.

With Gareth Bale gone back to Real Madrid and not returning, and Erik Lamela set for Sevilla in a deal that’ll see Bryan Gil come the other way, it leaves Tottenham a little short on wingers.

Yes, Gil is a wide player, but beyond that there’s only Lucas Moura and Steven Bergwijn, who scored 10 goals in 85 games across all competitions between them last season.

For attacking quantities, that isn’t exactly a brilliant return and with Harry Kane likely to be leaving, Spurs will need goals from a lot more areas next time around.

Real deal

Madueke is very much the real deal and you need only consider the fact that Borussia Dortmund were looking at him as a potential replacement for Jadon Sancho to know that he has a very bright future ahead of him.

More importantly, he also seems made of the right stuff because let’s face it, leaving a club like Tottenham – not to mention your family and friends – at the age of 16 to play football in the Netherlands is a very courageous move and one that’s ultimately paying dividends in a major now.

Jack Clarke

It’s also worth pointing out that the North Londoners also have a certain Jack Clarke in their ranks.

The 20-year-old former Leeds star still has a bright future himself and the club’s hierarchy won’t be ready to cut their losses on this £10 million investment anytime soon.

But three poor loan spells in the Championship following his £10 million move from Elland Road, combined with the fact that Madueke scored nine goals for the Dutch outfit last season, ought to suggest that the latter is quite a bit more advanced than Clarke is right now.

Leicester

Leicester’s interest is all Tottenham need to know.

Under Brendan Rodgers, the Foxes have consistently been doing fantastic business since the Irishman arrived at the King Power Stadium two-and-a-half years ago.

If City want him, there’s a pretty good chance that he’s very much the real deal.

And it could be quite a poor look for Spurs if a player who quit their academy at the age of 16 comes back to the Premier League and begins ripping it up.

Tottenham are probably going to lose one of their own in Kane this summer, but Daniel Levy could and should explore the idea of bringing another one of their own back.
