Liverpool are said to be interested in Timo Werner.

Liverpool will have to pay huge money if they are going to sign RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner.

Werner is Germany’s brightest strike prospect in years and Bild report the Reds would have to pay 100 million Euros (£87m) in order to stand a chance of signing him.

Understandably Leipzig are reluctant to sell their top scorer, Werner has 18 goals in all competitions already this season.

If millions of cash alone is not enough to convince them, a swap deal could yet give Liverpool an edge.

RB Leipzig were keen to sign Dominic Solanke last summer, before Liverpool pipped them to the deal.

Dominic Solanke of Liverpool shoot at goal during the Premier League match between Liverpool and Swansea City at Anfield on December 26, 2017 in Liverpool, England.

The Mail reported their desire to land the promising England striker, alongside Jadon Sancho, who they missed out on to Manchester City.

Solanke has found it tough going at Liverpool so far, but is still viewed as a player for the future at Anfield.

Yet with Rhian Brewster making rapid progress in the academy, Solanke could find himself overtaken, and Werner’s arrival would squeeze him out further.

So it makes sense for Liverpool to try and sacrifice him by throwing him into the deal to try and land Werner.

Leipzig will take a lot of persuading, but adding Solanke in could help turn negotiations in their favour.
