Speculation about Antony joining Tottenham Hotspur is doing the rounds at the moment.

According to Miguel Delaney of The Independent, Spurs are trying to sign the Brazilian winger by giving Ajax a certain Steven Bergwijn in exchange.

Bergwijn has long been linked with a transfer to the Dutch outfit.

And if Tottenham director Fabio Paratici can sign Antony in a straight-swap deal for Bergwijn then, well, the Italian will have outdone himself.

Lilywhites supporters are loving Paratici right now – and rightly so.

The summer transfer window is barely open for business and the Italian has already signed Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster and Yves Bissouma, who joined for a bargain £25 million on Friday.

Tottenham are having an unbelievable summer so far, but Paratici could win the window entirely if this Antony deal materialises.

Antony to Tottenham Hotspur?

This is a rising star of European football, with Manchester City joining Bayern Munich and Liverpool in the race to sign him a little earlier this year.

And if the North Londoners can get him for free, whilst offloading Bergwijn, then it’s an absolute masterstroke.

Even if it winds up being a player-plus-cash arrangement, which seems more likely, it’s still a blinder by Paratici.

Bergwijn is a good footballer, but he’ll never be anything more than a squad player under Antonio Conte, who hasn’t started him in any competition since January 23.

Antony, on the other hand, could be a real star in Tottenham’s first XI and the prospect of getting him for a knock-down transfer fee, based on Bergwijn potentially going the other way, may be enough to make the South American the bargain of the window.
