Swansea may reportedly have to sell Roberts in January.

Swansea City have continued their total football style of player under new manager Graham Potter, despite their relegation from the Premier League – and Connor Roberts has been pivotal to that.

But the 23-year-old is in danger of leaving the Liberty Stadium, with the Sun claiming that he may need to leave Swansea in the January transfer window is set to expire at the end of the 2018-19 season.

It seems as though the Wales international, who has scored two goals in 17 Championship outings this season, is some way away from being offered a new deal despite his excellent form.

Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United have adopted a similar style of play to Swansea since the Argentine manager arrived at Elland Road, playing from the back and working the ball into the box.

Injuries to Luke Ayling and Gaetano Berardi have left a gaping hole on the right side of Leeds’ defence, and a right-back is required. Roberts could be that man.

Having played every single minute of Swansea’s campaign, Roberts is proving himself to be one of the Championship’s best right-backs. His versatility also offers cover on the right side of defence.

On the outset, it seems as though that the technically-gifted Roberts is perfect for Bielsa. He can get forward, has plenty of years ahead of him and with Leeds spending big in the summer, he is likely to be a cheap alternative.

Landing the Swansea man would plug an important hole in Leeds’ hunt for promotion.
