Danny Higginbotham has suggested that Leeds United manager Garry Monk is exactly what Swansea need, having let him go over a year ago.
Pundit Danny Higginbotham has taken to Twitter to sarcastically suggest Leeds boss Garry Monk as a replacement for departing Swansea City manager Bob Bradley.
The Swans lost 4-1 at home to West Ham United on Monday afternoon, as they continued to haemorrhage goals under American boss Bradley – but that proved to be his final game in charge of the club.
Former Swansea City manager Bob Bradley
Bradley, 58, was only appointed as Swansea boss in early October following Francesco Guidolin’s departure, but he was given just 11 games in charge of the Swans – and with just two wins from those 11 games, he has now paid the price.
Bradley was sacked on Tuesday evening, meaning that Swansea are now looking for their third manager of the season – but their latest decision has again highlighted their move to replace Garry Monk last December.
With Swansea sitting 15th in the Premier League table just over a year ago, they chose to sack Monk, despite his lengthy playing career with the club, and his impressive start to management having guided the Swans to eighth place in the 2014-15 season.
Leeds United manager Gary Monk
A poor run last season led Swansea to sack Monk, and he has since gone on to take charge of Leeds United, with his results so far suggesting that Swansea made a big, big mistake letting him go.
A 4-1 win at Preston on Boxing Day means Monk’s Leeds have now won eight of their last ten Championship games, and remain fifth in the Championship table, closing the gap to second placed Newcastle to eight points.
Monk has excelled at Leeds, and has turned them from mid-table also-rans into legitimate promotion contenders, all whilst Swansea have lurched from one disaster to another, leading many to believe that the Swans were too hasty in their decision to sack Monk.
Now, pundit Danny Higginbotham has taken to Twitter to sarcastically suggest that Monk is the good young manager that would be ‘perfect’ for Swansea, whilst praising him for his work at Leeds, again highlighting that Swansea should regret sacking Monk last year.
