If the Swans are playing Premier League football next season, they should be fighting to keep these people at the club.
Swansea City’s Alfie Mawson celebrates after the match
Alfie Mawson
Signed from Barnsley in the summer, it’s taken Mawson a while to really stamp his authority on the Swansea team. He put pay to that with an outstanding start to 2017, scoring 3 goals and making clearance after clearance in pursuit of clean sheets. A young, talented prospect.
Fernando Llorente
Swansea have had their share of talented strikers in the past few years, and Llorente is no exception. Forgiving a slow start, he’s popped up with a few vital goals for the Swans, and often they have come in twos. Though he may not be the most mobile of strikers, he’s made his game fit the Premier League.
Gylfi Sigurdsson
It’s often asked where on earth Swansea would be without the Icelandic playmaker. You could only assume the answer to that would be that they would have a vastly inferior goal difference. Sigurdsson is the man that makes Swansea tick, coming to their rescue on more than one occasion with goals or assists, and certainly one they must keep hold of.
Claude Makelele
The legendary former central midfielder was brought in as an assistant coach by Paul Clement in January, which coincided with a huge spike in Swansea’s form. Coincidence? Clement has already hailed Makelele’s ability to speak to players one-to-one, and will be hoping to keep hold of him past the summer.
