Swansea City remain on the lookout for a new permanent manager following the dismissal of Paul Clement last week.
Leon Britton has taken caretaker charge of the the team for the last two games – the 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace and the 5-0 defeat to Liverpool – but it is clear that a new permanent boss is needed very quickly if the club are to have any chance of avoiding relegation from the Premier League.
Carlos Carvalhal, who left Sheffield Wednesday by mutual consent on Christmas Eve, has emerged as a potential candidate for the Swansea job, as reported by Wales Online.
A vastly experienced coach who has previously had spells in charge of Besiktas and Sporting Lisbon, Carvalhal’s preferred playing style of neat passing football certainly tallies with Swansea’s philosophy.
However, if he was to take charge of Swansea then Carvalhal would have much work to do in a short space of time, with the club languishing at the bottom of the Premier League having secured just three wins in the top flight this season.
Some Swansea supporters feel that Carvalhal would be the right man to improve their fortunes, while others are rather apprehensive about the potential appointment.
