Swansea City’s Michu a target for Russian big spenders Anzhi

The goalscoring form of Michu for Swansea City has attracted interest from Anzhi Makhachkala.

From the valleys of Swansea to the Caspian Sea, it would be quite a move – 4,500 kilometres and more than 50 hours by car.

The Premier League’s joint top goalscorer, Michu, has emerged as a target for Russian giants Anzhi Makhachkala.

The source of the news is Spanish publication AS – Who claim Samuel Eto’o has been impressed with what he has seen of Swansea’s Spanish maestro.

Whether or not it is likely to happen or not will come down to money, and then the player himself.

Swansea are thrilled with the performances of the player, and do not want to lose him.

Michu himself is happy at the club, and the ease in which he has settled into Premier League life.

Chairman Huw Jenkins recently remarked a figure of £30 million would be what was required to tempt them into a sale – They paid just £2 million for Michu in the summer.

Anzhi may not be willing to pay that amount, but they have substantial funds- Samuel Eto’o earns in the region of £350,000 per week, making him the highest paid player in world football.

Figures like that could sway even the more level-headed of professionals into embarking on such a rapid lifestyle change from Wales to Russia.

It will come down to though how much Anzhi are willing to offer Swansea up front, and our guess is they won’t persuade the Swans into a sale, unless they really do come close to that magic £30 million figure.

Can Swansea keep hold of Michu?
