Jota has thrilled the Championship since returning to Brentford – and has reportedly piqued the interest of Premier League strugglers Swansea City.

It hardly seems believable right now that Jota was so heavily linked with Rangers in January. According to the Daily Record, manager Mark Warburton jetted out to Spain to convince the cultured playmaker, who he brought to Brentford from Celta Vigo in 2014, to join him at Ibrox.
Jota was struggling for minutes on loan at plucky La Liga overachievers Eibar at the time, having fallen out of favour at Brentford. That was then, however, and his current standing at Griffin Park could hardly be more different.
The 25-year-old returned to London in January and has emphatically won over manager Dean Smith. A series of stunning individual performances, capped by 12 goals and five assists in 19 starts, certainly haven’t harmed his cause.
As such, Get West London reports that Brentford have triggered an extension in Jota’s contract, aiming to keep him at the club until the summer of 2018.
Though that may not prevent potential suitors from making big bids to lure him away from the capital club.
No one’s hotter than Jota
Get West London add that Jota has piqued Swansea City’s interest and, regardless of whether they are playing Premier League or Championship football next season, Jota would surely be an inspired addition.
Blessed with quick feet, superb vision and a goalscoring streak from midfield almost unrivalled in the second tier, the one-time Real Madrid academy star would appear an excellent addition for a Swansea side who have retained their passing principles under Paul Clement, albeit allied with a more direct approach.
And if Rangers supporters were disappointed to miss out on Jota four months ago, his sublime form and expanding price tag means the Spaniard is now well beyond their reach.
