According to Alfredopedulla.com, Swansea City are interested in signing Timothy Castagne from Atalanta in the January transfer window.

It has been reported that the Championship club in England have started talks with Atalanta over the transfer of the 23-year-old defender.

Swansea are ready to offer €6-7 million (£5.37-£6.27m) as transfer fee for the Belgium international right-back and want to conclude a deal as soon as possible, according to the report.

Competition for Celtic

In December, The Daily Record reported of Celtic’s interest in securing the services of Castagne in the January transfer window.

Timothy Castagne and Nathan Ake fight for the ball during the International Friendly match between Belgium and The Netherlands on October 16, 2018 in Brussels, Belgium.

The right-back himself was quoted in the publication as saying that he is open to the idea of leaving Atalanta for regular playing time.

Celtic are a massive club and are playing in the Europa League this season, but Swansea are aiming to win promotion from the Championship to the Premier League at the end of the campaign.

The chance to play in the the most popular and richest domestic league in the world next season could sway Castagne towards the Swans.
