Leeds United’s move for Swansea’s Dan James fell through.

Daniel James of Swansea City in action during the FA Cup Fourth Round match between Swansea City and Gillingham at the Liberty Stadium on January 26, 2019 in Swansea, Wales.

Leeds United’s move for Swansea City winger fell through after terms between the clubs could not be reached.

Swansea clarified the situation via their official website at midnight, after the 11pm transfer deadline passed with no resolution.

The Yorkshire Evening Post reported that James had undergone a medical at Leeds and was ready for the deal to go through.

He now heads back to Swansea, and could feature against Leeds on February 13 when the two sides meet at Elland Road.

Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani said on Twitter that James was Leeds’ top target and no alternatives were considered.

The developments came as a pleasant surprise to Swansea fans who did not want to lose Wales international James, an academy graduate.

Some Supporters took pleasure in getting one over on Leeds and hanging onto the winger, but others are concerned at the conflicting messages sent out by the club’s owners to let a deal get so far along before pulling the plug.

Here is a look at the reaction…
