Swansea City boss Bob Bradley has pledged to earn the respect of the fans by turning around their Premier League campaign, in comments from his first press conference published by the club website.

At his press conference, Bradley said: “I am excited about the test I am going to face here, but I fully understand that as with everything I have done in my life, you have to earn respect.”

Bradley, the first American manager in the Premier League’s history, has formerly managed the USA and Egypt national teams as well as Norweigan team Stabaek and French team Le Havre.

And Bradley is positive about the team’s chances after meeting with the players on Wednesday, adding: “I am going to learn a lot more but I already know enough about Swansea City Football Club.

“What I know is that when you have a club with soul and great supporters, that’s special.

“The unity between the fans is the number one thing you need for a club to have a chance to be succesful.”

The 58-year-old believes his priority is to restore confidence in the squad ahead of their clash with Arsenal next Saturday.

“They have had a very difficult list of fixtures at the start of the season and they have also had some bad luck.

“We have to try to build a bit of confidence. Right at the beginning, I said to the players “You guys know how to play football – I have seen you”. I am not going to come in with a new book on football but we need to find some confidence.”

Swansea are currently hovering above the relegation zone after only acruing four points since the season got under way.

They will return to a tough road game against the Gunners before hosting Watford at the Liberty Stadium on October 22.
