The Middlesbrough captain would be a fine addition to many Premier League defences, with Everton and West Ham United reportedly interested.

Ben Gibson is the 25-year-old English centre-back, currently playing for and captaining Championship club Middlesbrough. He has been a constant rock at the heart of Boro’s defence, playing in 44 of their 45 games, in which the Northern club have conceded just 43 times, helping them to fifth and a guaranteed play-off place.
Ben Gibson has so far achieved an average of 6.1 clearances per game, a pass accuracy of 80% and three assists from centre-back this season, also scoring on one occasion. Gibson is also versatile in the sense that he can feature as a left-back, as well as a central defender.
As reported by Sky Sports, a number of Premier League teams have registered an interest in Gibson. Leicester City have allegedly been after him for the past two transfer windows, while West Ham United and Everton appear to be in the running for the Englishman’s signature.

Everton fans have been disappointed with the performances of both Phil Jagielka and Ashley Williams this season; with the general consensus among supporters suggesting the club should sign another defender to partner Michael Keane.
Phil Jagielka is 35 and, despite this, has featured in 23 Premier League games for Everton this season. He has been relatively consistent, with an average of 7.2 clearances, 1.3 tackles and 1.4 interceptions per game. He has, however, been error prone and has cost Everton vital points.

Ashley Williams is 33 and has had a poor season. The defender has been inconsistent and, alongside Jagielka, is losing his ability to keep up with the game.
Therefore, should Gibson be an available target, he is definitely one who would make a huge impact on Everton’s ageing defence if the Toffees act fast and get their man.
