The Algerian attacker has been a vital part of Leicester City’s team for a few years now and could be set to stay.

The transfer saga involving Leicester City’s 27-year-old Algerian forward Riyad Mahrez has seemingly taken a step towards its conclusion.
According to a report from Sky Sports, Mahrez has withdrawn his transfer request at the club, which he submitted as he tried to force a move to Manchester City in January.

Mahrez told Sky Sports News that, although he has officially withdrawn his transfer request, he does not know where he will be playing next season; and therefore a move to the Etihad Stadium could still be on the cards.
The Algerian has scored ten goals and assisted eight more in the league this season, making him an integral piece of Leicester’s attacking movements. He has also achieved an average of 1.5 key passes and 2.2 dribbles per game.

Manchester City were reportedly interested in bringing Mahrez to the Etihad, and have been for the past couple of seasons. Despite additional interest from elsewhere, Leicester have done well to keep one of the star men of their Premier League winning team, with N’golo Kante departing the club for Chelsea in 2016.
If Mahrez does stay at Leicester, new signings will be required to help the Foxes threaten again but, if he leaves, it could all go wrong for the club next season.
