Spanish media are reporting that Watford have closed a deal to bring Barcelona’s Gerard Deulofeu to the club on a permanent basis, after impressing during a loan spell at Vicarage Road

After an impressive loan spell which saw the 24-year-old Spaniard strengthen Watford’s attacking options, Spanish outlet Sport are reporting that a deal has been confirmed to bring Gerard Deulofeu to the club permanently.
Deulofeu has been on loan at Watford since January, just six months after Barcelona activated a buy-back clause to bring the winger back to the club from Everton. Sport are reporting that a deal has been agreed for a fee of €13 million (£11.4 million) with performance related bonuses of up to €2 million.

In just seven Premier League appearances for Watford, the Spaniard opened up Watford’s attacking options, seeing them climb the table after a mid-season drop in form.
On average, Deulofeu registered 1.6 key passes, 2.4 successful dribbles, 1.1 shots and 20.3 passes per game. Defensively, he has contributed 0.7 tackles and 0.6 interceptions per game on average for the Hornets.

Deulofeu’s dribbling ability makes him a valuable asset for Watford, and his defensive competence means that he can be deployed as a right-midfielder, as well as a winger.
