Celtic have started pre-season training under new manager Brendan Rodgers.
Celtic defender Erik Sviatchenko has revealed to The Daily Record the message he and his teammates have been given by new manager Brendan Rodgers during training sessions.
The Scottish Premiership giants have already started pre-season training, as they prepare for their upcoming 2016-17 Champions League qualifiers.
Sviatchenko, who is 24 years of age and plays as a centre-back, has said that Rodgers is pleased with what he has seen of the players during training sessions over the past few days.
“It’s going to be good to get out there and show the manager what we can do in games,” Sviatchenko told The Daily Record. “But I think what we’ve shown on the training fields already in the first week has been really, really good.
“The manager has told us he’s very pleased with what we’re doing, how hard we’re working. It’s a new manager with new ideas and so far the ideas for me have been what I want to be doing.”
Rodgers was appointed as the Celtic manager earlier this summer following the departure of Ronny Deila at the end of the 2015-16 season.
The former Liverpool and Swansea City boss is a good manager, and fans should be optimistic about a successful 2016-17 campaign.
Celtic will start the new season as favourites to win the Scottish Premiership title, although Old Firm rivals Rangers will be looking to give the Bhoys a run for their money.
The Hoops’ main priority at the moment is to qualify for the group stage of the 2016-17 Champions League campaign.
