Craig Gordon was withdrawn during Celtic’s 1-0 win over Hibernian.
Celtic defender Erik Sviatchenko has sent a message to Craig Gordon on Twitter after the goalkeeper was withdrawn at half-time during Saturday’s 1-0 win over Hibernian.
The 35-year-old, who lost two years of his career to a knee injury, was replaced during the interval by Dorus de Vries after colliding with former Celtic defender Efe Ambrose.
The former Sunderland and Hearts goalkeeper is another absentee on the long list of crocked Celtic stars, with Leigh Griffiths suffering another calf problem on Saturday.
Sviatchenko, who left Celtic this month to rejoin FC Midtjylland on loan until the end of the season, posted on Twitter that he hopes Gordon undergoes a “speedy recovery” and that he can borrow his Compex – a muscle stimulator.
Gordon joins a number of first-team stars on the injury list, with Griffiths, Stuart Armstrong, Tom Rogic, Anthony Ralston, Jonny Hayes, Paddy Roberts and Marvin Compper all sidelined.
Brendan Rodgers has just three days to bring in some depth if he intends on doing so, with the deadline slamming shut on Wednesday at 11pm.
Celtic will be hoping for a return of a number of their first-team stars ahead of the Europa League ties against Zenit St. Petersburg, which take place on February 15 and 22.
