Wolverhampton Wanderers are determined to sign Sven Botman from Lille on transfer deadline day, according to The Telegraph.

What’s the story?

The Telegraph have reported that Wolves are keen to get a deal for Botman done before the summer transfer window closes tonight.

The Wanderers are ‘pushing’ for a move, according to the report.

Botman is Wolves’ ‘top target’.

Wolves and Lille, who won the Ligue 1 title last season, will hold talks over a potential transfer of the 21-year-old central defender today.

The Premier League club have had an initial bid for the Netherlands Under-21 international turned down, but they are determined to get a transfer deal done for £25 million.

Could a transfer happen?

Anything is possible on transfer deadline day, and given that Wolves are so determined to get a deal done now, it is very possible that the transfer will go through.

Yes, Lille are the reigning French champions, but they are unlikely to be opposed to selling their best players for good money, especially as they will know that with Lionel Messi now at Paris Saint-Germain, they are unlikely to win the title again this season.

Botman is a very young and promising centre-back who could be tempted by the chance to play for an established club in the Premier League, such as Wolves.

The Lille defender made 37 appearances in Ligue and eight appearances in the Europa League last season.
