Liverpool are expected to sign another centre back this summer, with Sven Botman one potential target.

The Reds signed Ben Davies and Ozan Kabak on deadline day in February, but there is a real chance that neither of them are at Anfield next term.

Ibrahima Konate is the most popular name being linked with a move to Anfield, but Botman has been touted for months now.

Foot Mercato reported Liverpool’s interest in December, with Fabrizio Romano claiming in March that the Reds are still keen.

Formerly of Ajax, Botman is a talented left-footed centre back and he could actually stand to benefit from Virgil van Dijk being out of EURO 2020, as he may end up featuring for the Netherlands.

The 21-year-old has excelled alongside Jose Fonte this season, just like Van Dijk did at Southampton, and it’s no surprise that he is attracting interest.

Now, Botman has spoken to The Athletic about his future, claiming that it’s a compliment to hear so many clubs being interested in signing him.

Botman added that the Premier League is special, hinting that he would be interested in a move to England if it became a possibility – something Liverpool may be very pleased to hear.

“Of course it’s a good compliment when you hear these clubs are interested,” said Botman. “The media always give something extra on the reality, but it’s nice to be in a positive way in the media. I’m lying if I say it’s not interesting me – it’s the first time that such big clubs have been linked to me.”

“I’m focusing on Lille. The season is almost over and we can achieve something really special. If I’m honest, the Premier League is one of the leagues I dreamed about but also Serie A and La Liga are big competitions, the Bundesliga also. The Premier League, for me, is something special,” he added.
