Chris Sutton has taken to Twitter to give his reaction to Rangers striker’s Jermain Defoe recent comments about catching Celtic.

Rangers striker Defoe has told Football FanCast that it is only a matter of time before Steven Gerrard’s side catch their bitter Old Firm rivals Celtic.

Defoe told Football Fancast in an interview published this afternoon: “I said it when I signed, I believe it’s only a matter of time before it happens.

“Celtic fans give me a bit of banter about it on social media but I do genuinely believe it’s only a matter of time.”

Former Celtic striker Sutton has taken to Twitter to give his reaction to Defoe’s comments, and the BBC Sport and BT Sport pundit seems to have dismissed the striker’s confidence.

Nine in a row

Celtic have won the Scottish Premiership title for the past eight seasons, and it is only a matter of time before they make it nine in a row.

The Hoops are as many as 13 points clear of second-placed and bitter Old Firm rivals Rangers at the top of the league table.

However, the Gers have a game in hand, and there are also two Old Firm derbies left to be played this campaign.

The Scottish Premiership is suspended at the moment due to the global health crisis, and it remains to be seen if and when the season gets back underway.
