Former Chelsea and Aston Villa striker Chris Sutton has written in The Daily Record that he would have been upset had Celtic signed Moussa Sissoko in the summer transfer window.

Sissoko joined Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur from Championship club Newcastle United on transfer deadline day.

According to BBC Sport, Spurs had to pay as much as £30m in transfer fees in order to secure the services of the 27-year-old midfielder.

Former Celtic striker Sutton has claimed that Sissoko is a disgrace, and has stated that he would not have signed the France international midfielder for the Scottish Premiership giants even for a fraction of the sum that Spurs paid for him.

“Just look at England,” Sutton wrote in The Daily Record. “The market has gone crazy down south. Nothing sums it up more than the carry-on with Moussa Sissoko. It’s ridiculous Spurs shelled out £30m for him and Newcastle will be delighted.

“He was a disgrace at St James’s Park last season as there was no doubt he downed tools towards the end of the campaign when it looked like Newcastle were doomed.

“I would have been upset if Celtic had signed Sissoko for even a fraction of that cost. Seriously. I wouldn’t want him near the place. Yet he’s gone for £30m, just proving how stupid things are becoming down there.”

Sissoko is a good player and has proved that he is good enough to play for a big Premier League club.

The former Toulouse star also had a very good 2016 European Championship campaign with France in the summer.

The problem is that the midfielder is quite inconsistent and goes missing during matches. Perhaps at Tottenham, Sissoko will find consistency under manager Mauricio Pochettino.
