Ibrox club Glasgow Rangers have appointed Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard as the Gers’ manager, and former Celtic striker Chris Sutton believes that the Celtic Park faithful will be worried.

Following the appointment of Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard as the Rangers manager last week, Chris Sutton made a claim about Celtic fans on BT Sport 1.

The former Celtic striker stated that Celtic Park faithful will be worried as Rangers have managed to secure the services of ex-Liverpool and England international midfielder Gerrard, which is a major decision from the Ibrox club.

Sutton said on the Scottish Football Extra show on BT Sport 1 last Friday evening (7:08pm, May 4, 2018): “I think Celtic fans will be worried.

“People can talk about his inexperience, but this is a guy with a magnificent football brain, and he is the unknown, and the unknown is an enormous worry.”

Steven Gerrard is unveiled as the new manager of Rangers football Club at Ibrox Stadium on May 4, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp also speculated on the club’s official website that Celtic fans will be awe-struck by Rangers appointing Gerrard, but the Hoops’ fans did not agree, as reported on HITC Sport.

Sutton’s claim about Celtic fans is quite interesting. While at this moment in time, the Bhoys have no reason to worry about Rangers as there is a huge gulf in class between the two sides, things could change in the coming years.

Gerrard is one of the greatest footballers of all time, and his contacts at Liverpool and his global reputation could help him land some very good players at Rangers in the coming years.

If Rangers are able to attract top-quality players in the next three or four transfer windows, then Celtic will be facing some serious challenge in their dominance of Scottish football.
