Chris Sutton has claimed on Twitter that Celtic boss Neil Lennon doesn’t quite trust Patryk Klimala just yet.
The Hoops face off against Ferencvaros in a Champions League qualifier at Parkhead tonight.
Celtic’s attack will be spearheaded by attacking midfielder Ryan Christie, with Odsonne Edouard absent.
Lennon has named two strikers on the bench in the form of Klimala and Albian Ajeti, but the Irish manager revealed last weekend that the Swiss marksman – who scored a late winner for them on Saturday – was not yet match fit.
And Celtic legend Sutton believes that Klimala’s snub is a big indication that Lennon doesn’t trust the young Polish forward yet.
This is a big season for Klimala.
Yes, he’s only a 22-year-old and still has a lot of time on his side but, by the same token, he set the club back a hefty £3.5 million in January [Daily Mail] and despite some promising pre-season displays, he is yet to look anywhere near worth that amount and this snub won’t do his confidence much good.
With Leigh Griffiths absent, and Ajeti unfit as far as 90 minutes go, this was a big chance for the youngster, but Lennon clearly prefers Christie for now.
