Rangers have been steady under Graeme Murty in December.

Chris Sutton has picked two Rangers players in his Scottish Premiership Team of the Month on Ladbrokes’ Facebook Live Channel in James Tavernier and Ross McCrorie, following a decent month for the Light Blues.

Under newly-installed manager until the end of the season Graeme Murty, Rangers won four of their seven Scottish Premiership outings against Aberdeen, Ross County, Motherwell and Hibernian, as well as drawing against Celtic.

However, the Gers remain in third place during the winter break behind Aberdeen, and 11 points behind Old Firm rivals Celtic as they are currently situated in Florida to take on Corinthians and Atletico Mineiro.

James Tavernier of Rangers vies with Moussa Dembele of Celtic during the Scottish Premier League match between Celtic and Ranger at Celtic Park on December 30, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Former Celtic striker Sutton believes Tavernier’s performance against Celtic was the best he has been in a Rangers shirt, while he also praised 19-year-old McCrorie before stating he still has plenty to learn.

On Tavernier, Sutton said:” He’s had a really good month, he was outstanding against Celtic. He was probably the best I’ve seen him in a Rangers shirt against Celtic, and he has been solid all season.”

On McCrorie, Sutton said: “Really impressed with him. He’s got a lot of learning to do, but I think he’s a really exciting prospect. I thought he was outstanding against Celtic.”

Ross McCrorie of Rangers vies with Stuart Armstrong of Celtic during the Scottish Premier League match between Celtic and Ranger at Celtic Park on December 30, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

The duo were named in a side that included Hearts quartet Jon McLaughlin, Christophe Berra, John Souttar and Harry Cochrane, Kilmarnock trio Kris Boyd, Youssuf Mulumbu and Eamon Brophy as well as Celtic mainstays Kieran Tierney and James Forrest.

Tavernier, 26, played in all seven matches as did McCrorie, with the latter being subbed only once as they combined to help Rangers keep two clean sheets and concede eight goals.

However, it may be a while before we see teenager McCrorie in a Rangers shirt after he suffered an ankle injury in Florida according to the Daily Record.
