Chris Sutton has predicted on BBC Sport that Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool will win against Brendan Rodgers’s Leicester City at Anfield in the Premier League on Friday evening.

The former Chelsea striker believes that Liverpool will pick up all three points from the encounter against Leicester at home courtesy of a 3-1 win.

Sutton has admitted that he was wrong about Liverpool’s last game against Aston Villa.

The Reds beat Villa 3-1 away from home at Villa Park in the Premier League on Boxing Day.

The BBC pundit has also given a positive verdict on Netherlands international forward Cody Gakpo, who has joined Liverpool from PSV.

Chris Sutton on Liverpool v Leicester City

Sutton wrote: “Cody Gakpo is an excellent signing for Liverpool and I’m looking forward to seeing how he fits into their attack when his deal goes through in January.

“I wrongly thought Liverpool would slip up against Aston Villa in their last game – Villa did have some chances but the Reds ended up winning comfortably.

“Jurgen Klopp’s side are going to be pushing hard for the top four in the new year and I think they will end 2022 with a win too.

“James Maddison’s knee injury is a concern for Leicester but I still think they will get a goal at Anfield – I just think Liverpool will score more than them.”

A footnote added: “Sutton’s prediction: 3-1.”

Who will win?

In our opinion, Liverpool will head into the match against Leicester City as the favourites.

We would be really surprised if the Reds slip up this evening.

Yes, Leicester do have a good team, but Liverpool are better and were really good against Aston Villa.

The former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners appear to have got their mojo back.

As for Cody Gakpo, the 23-year-old is one of the best young forwards around and could be a massive success at Liverpool.
