BT Sport pundit Chris Sutton has expressed his shock on Twitter after a Daily Mail report claimed Tottenham Hotspur ace Harry Kane is only equal 35th in the Premier League wages charts.

The report claims 24-year-old Kane is equal with the likes of Arsenal duo Sead Kolasinac and Aaron Ramsey, Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante and Manchester United ace Ashley Young on a reported £110,000 a week.

But in 35th, England international Kane is way behind some interesting Premier League names such as West Ham’s Javier Hernandez, Crystal Palace’s Christian Benteke and Manchester United’s Marouane Fellaini.

Sutton chose to focus on comparing Kane’s current wage to Man United left-back Luke Shaw, 22, who earns £20,000 a week more than Kane despite being on the fringes at Old Trafford. He described it as “incredible” on Twitter.

For Spurs, the news will come as a worry, especially now the list of the Premier League’s top earners are in the public domain. Kane could look at the list, and believe he can earn more than what he is currently taking home.

Earning half of Manchester City veteran Yaya Toure’s £220,000-a-week deal, Kane has been widely reported as interesting Real Madrid and Barcelona, with BBC Sport pundit Alan Shearer stating the La Liga clubs’ interest is “inevitable”.

With Kane the only Tottenham man in the top 40 Premier League earners, his Spurs teammates will also be wondering what they have to do to match their domestic rivals.
