Ibrox ace Ryan Jack was handed his fourth red card of the season for Rangers on Sunday.
The ex-Dons midfielder, 25, was sent off for a robust challenge on striker Stevie May that saw the Scotland international play the ball first, before following through on former Sheffield Wednesday striker May’s ankle.
Jack has now been sent off four times for Rangers since joining the Ibrox club in the summer, but two of his previous three red cards have been rescinded by the Scottish Football Association.
The Daily Record claims Rangers are to appeal the decision made by Willie Collum, as they look to avoid losing their number eight for three matches.
Sutton posted on Twitter in reaction to Rangers’ decision to appeal the dismissal, stating “anything is possible” ironically as the former Celtic striker has disagreed with Jack’s successful appeals this season.
Jack starred for Graeme Murty’s side before receiving his marching orders, playing a crucial role in the interim manager’s diamond system that sees him and Jason Holt used as box-to-box midfielders in front of Ross McCrorie.
The win for Rangers sees Murty rack up his fourth win in six games and push the Gers into second place. They remain seven points behind Celtic having a played one more game.
If the appeal is unsuccessful, then Jack will miss matches against Ross County this Saturday as well as clashes against Hibernian and St. Johnstone.
