Chris Sutton is unwavering in his belief that Aberdeen midfielder Kenny McLean will sign for Rangers in the near future.

Earlier this week, Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes revealed to the Glasgow Evening Times that 25-year-old ace McLean would not be signing a new contract at Pittodrie.

It has plunged his future into doubt with the Dons, as his current deal at Aberdeen expires in June 2018 which will allow him to talk to clubs from January over a potential pre-contract agreement.

The Daily Record claimed this summer that Pedro Caixinha’s Rangers had tabled a bid for the one-time Scotland international, while Championship club Birmingham City were also said to be keeping an eye on proceedings.

Celtic icon Sutton told BT Sport’s Periscope Channel prior to Wednesday night’s Scottish Premiership matches that he is adamant Rangers will re-enter the market for McLean and complete a move for McLean’s signature.

“He’s off,” Sutton declared. “I suppose the interesting thing is, we’ve seen Motherwell dig their heels in with Louis Moult.

“If you’re asking me, I think Kenny McLean will go to Rangers, yes.”

McLean has been a regular member of McInnes’ side this season, making 16 appearances in all competitions and even playing the full 90 minutes during Wednesday night’s 3-0 loss to Celtic.

The former St. Mirren ace can play anywhere across the midfield and is known for his eye for goal, which he has showed this season against Partick Thistle and Hibernian.
