Suso has done fairly well this season, but perhaps news of his release clause should tempt Tottenham Hotspur to keep monitoring his situation.

Suso of AC Milan looks on during the Serie A match between AC Milan and SSC Napoli at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on January 21, 2017 in Milan, Italy.

Back in December, Calciomercato reported that Tottenham were interested in AC Milan forward Suso but would have to trigger his £44 million release clause if they hoped to sign the former Liverpool man.

Of course, no move in January would take place and the 24-year-old would remain at San Siro. However, Calciomercato is now reporting that Suso’s release clause is actually £35.69 million (€40 million).

And that should tempt Tottenham just to keep monitoring Suso’s form between now and the end of the season in case his form enjoys a sharp upturn and he looks much more like the player who was often exceptional before Christmas.

Suso has scored six and contributed four assists in Serie A this term, but has scored once and provided one assist since the resumption of the campaign following the winter break. Several of his performances have still been impressive in that time.

Mauricio Pochettino probably does not feel that he needs to sign Suso if he does not add more goals and assists to his bright performances, but he should still keep him on the radar as he is a player that is still developing and appears to have the potential to be an extremely valuable asset to a side looking to battle in the latter stages on four fronts.

If he can show signs of progressing in the coming months, then paying just over £35 million has to be considered something of a steal for whichever side activates the release clause. Tottenham should not put the forward at the top of their summer wishlist just yet, but the value of the clause should tempt Spurs to keep him on their radar for the time-being.
