Steve Sidwell has praised West Ham United striker Gianluca Scamacca on BBC Sport for his goal against Fulham at London Stadium in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

The former Chelsea midfielder was hugely impressed by Scamacca’s effort for West Ham in the London derby against Fulham.

The 23-year-old Italy international striker found the back of the net in the 62nd minute.

Scamacca was fed through, and the youngster brought the ball under control brilliantly before using the same foot to dink it over Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno.

It was a brilliant goal, and BBC Sport pundit Sidwell was impressed.

Praise for West Ham United striker Gianluca Scamacca

Sidwell said about Scamacca’s goal: “How surreal is that? Everyone in the ground started celebrating around five or ten seconds before it went in. It was a great finish from Scamacca, the composure to lift it over Leno’s head.”

In form

In our view, Gianluca Scamacca is playing well for West Ham United at the moment and is showing why the Hammers signed him from Sassuolo in the summer transfer window.

The striker has made three starts and four substitute appearances in the Premier League for the Hammers so far this season.

The 23-year-old has scored two goals in those games.

The youngster has also scored two goals in three UEFA Europa Conference League matches so far this season.

West Ham have started to do well now.

If the Hammers are to be successful this season, then, in our view, Scamacca will have to be on top of his game throughout.
