Some Liverpool fans on social media have been reacting after hearing The Athletic’s report that the club have no plans to sell Ben Davies this summer.

The 25-year-old joined in January, but he is yet to play a single game for the Anfield outfit, seemingly sitting behind the likes of Ozan Kabak, Nat Phillips and Rhys Williams in the pecking order at centre-half.

Liverpool supporters are seemingly shocked to hear that Davies isn’t likely to leave the club this summer, and to be fair, we can understand why.

There’ve been plenty of reports linking Davies with a move away, while the returns of Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez, alongside the potential signing of Ibrahima Konate would likely see him become Liverpool’s seventh-choice centre-back, barring any departures.

Of course, there could be some players sold, but even then, he’s way down the pecking order and it looks as though he isn’t really fancied by Jurgen Klopp, making the matchday squad just four times since he arrived in January.

Understandably, Liverpool fans were a bit bemused by reports that Davies is likely to be kept on next season, and we have to wonder what Klopp’s plan for the former Preston man is if he’s going to be kept at the club.

Here’s what the Anfield faithful have been saying on social media…
