Clinton Morrison told Sky Sports News on Wednesday morning that Antonio Conte would have been a ‘good manager signing’ for Tottenham after the new fixtures were announced for the 2020/21 Premier League season.
The ex-Crystal Palace striker also claimed that Tottenham seemingly pushing for Paulo Fonseca’s signature won’t appease the supporters.
Spurs were preparing for a League Cup final when they sacked Jose Mourinho, yet with the new fixtures being announced today, a new name isn’t in their dugout.
It’s a tough task for whoever will take the job in North London because Manchester City will be their opening fixture.
Boyhood Spurs fan, Morrison, shared his thoughts on the new fixtures and the current manager situation at the club.
“They need a new manager and they need a new manager pretty quick,” said Morrison. “I am surprised that a club the stature of Tottenham still haven’t got a manager.
“Obviously, there is talk of Fonseca, will that appease Tottenham fans? I don’t think so.
“He has left Roma, and the old Tottenham manager, Jose Mourinho, has gone to Roma, so Spurs fans will want to step forward.
“Someone like a Conte would have been a good signing as a manager. But that’s a big game for Tottenham (v Man City). That’s going to be a difficult game against Man City. But they are at home and hopefully they will have supporters in to roar them on.”

It seems as though Fonseca will be the new man in Tottenham’s dugout because, according to Football London, he is the clear favourite to replace Mourinho.
If the former Roma man does arrive then he has a huge task to steer a Tottenham ship that has been declining in recent years.
And the big question is will Harry Kane be in Tottenham or Man City colours for that opening game for the 2021/22 season?
