Clinton Morrison has given his verdict on Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino’s decision to send Armando Broja out on loan to Fulham.
The former Crystal Palace forward and Sky Sports pundit has admitted that he was surprised at the decision.
So, what has Clinton Morrison said about Armando Broja leaving Chelsea for Fulham on a loan deal? Let’s take a look.
Clinton Morrison’s verdict on Armando Broja loan exit
Well, Armando Broja left Chelsea for Fulham on a loan deal in the January transfer window. The transfer was completed on deadline day.
Broja made his debut for Fulham this past weekend. The 22-year-old striker came on as a substitute in the 74th minute against Burnley. The match ended in a 2-2 draw.
Former Crystal Palace forward Clinton Morrison has said that he is surprised that Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino was willing to let the striker leave on loan, but the Sky Sports pundit believes that the Albabia international needed to find a new club in the short term to play football matches.

Morrison said about Chelsea letting Broja leave on loan on Sky Sports News (12:10 pm, February 3, 2024): “I am surprised that they let Broja go, but, listen, it is good for Broja. He needs to play football, I think.
“We saw when he went on loan, he did ever so well at Southampton. He has had a lot of injuries, the young man. I still think he has got a lot of ability, he can hold the ball up, he can stretch them behind, he can score goals.
“For me, it is a good move for him. I wish him well. I was surprised Chelsea let him go just because they are struggling in the number 9 area, but maybe he sees Nkunku as the man to play there between now and the end of the season.”
Former Arsenal star Paul Merson added: “I think it’s important for Chelsea to get him out on loan and get a batch of games, 10-15 games on the trot.”
My View: Armando Broja has no long-term future at Chelsea
In my opinion, Armando Broja does not have a long-term future at Chelsea under head coach Mauricio Pochettino.
I do not see Broja returning to Chelsea and becoming a key player in the team under Pochettino.
I would not be surprised if the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners decided to sell the 22-year-old Albania international striker in the summer of 2024.
After all, there was speculation that Chelsea were willing to part ways with Broja for good for £35 million in the January transfer window. The youngster’s current contract with the Blues runs until the summer of 2028.
Even when Broja was fit and available, Pochettino did not use him much. The striker scored one goal in six starts and seven substitute appearances in the Premier League for Chelsea this season before leaving for Fulham on loan.
