Leicester City’s forgotten man Adrien Silva has admitted that a return to Sporting Lisbon is a ‘possibility’ this summer, while admitting to France Football that he has been left baffled by Monaco’s decision not to sign him on a permanent basis.
In truth, the 31-year-old’s Foxes career started badly and went downhill from there.
Silva was forced to spend his first six months in England stuck on the sidelines after his £22 million move to the King Power was completed a mere 14 seconds after the FIFA deadline.
But even when the Portugal international was free to play in that iconic blue shirt, he found game-time hard to come by.
With a year-long loan spell at Monaco coming to an end, Silva is now facing up to the prospect of returning to Leicester unless he can find a club willing to offer him an escape route out of the Premier League high-flyers.
And the chance to wear the green and white of Sporting again could be too good to turn down.
“Yes, Sporting is one of the possibilities. But it doesn’t just depend on me,” says Silva, who rose through the ranks at the Lisbon giants and won five trophies at the Estadio Jose Alvalade.

“Monaco had expressed a desire to keep me (once his loan came to an end). In any case, this is what the leaders told me. But during the crisis, the club informed me of their change of mind.
“It’s something that surprised me. It surprised me because I adapted very well to Monaco. I would have liked to continue here.”
31-year-old Silva, one of the most expensive Leicester players of all time at £22 million, is due to become a free agent in 12 months’ time unless the Foxes can find a buyer.
Despite arriving in England as a 2016 European Champion with Portugal, Silva has only ever started just ten Premier League matches.
