Jermaine Jenas has praised Newcastle United forward Joelinton on Match of the Day on BBC One (11:18pm, December 4, 2021).

The former Newcastle and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder was impressed by the display produced by Joelinton against Burnley.

Eddie Howe’s side won the Premier League game at St. James’ Park 1-0 on Saturday.

Jenas verdict on Joelinton

Jenas said about Joelinton on Match of the Day on BBC One (11:18pm, December 4, 2021): “This guy (Joelinton) is the one who has surprised me over the last couple of weeks.

“He has shown a real fight, a real determination. I feel that he has got some confidence, he has got a bit of spring in his steps, he is taking responsibility.”

Transformed under Eddie Howe

Joelinton is playing well at the moment and seems to have been transformed under new Newcastle manager Howe.

Even Newcastle fans have noticed that.

The 25-year-old is forming a strong partnership with Callum Wilson and Allan Saint-Maximin in attack.

What is interesting about the Newcastle ‘front-three’ is that everyone is aware that Wilson is the goalscorer.

Now, of course, Joelinton and Saint-Maximin are getting into good positions, but more often than not it is Wilson who is at the end of final balls.

And, in our opinion, that suits Joelinton.

We know that the Brazilian has struggled for goals at Newcastle, but he is now flourishing under Howe.

And Newcastle fans will hope that it continues.
